July conversations around the Mid Ohio Valley explored the opioid and addiction crisis in the community. At these events, many ideas around the causes of addiction and solutions were proposed by community members themselves. One thing everyone agreed on is the entire community needs to be more aware and involved in order to face the crisis head-on.
To accomplish this, the Addictions Action Summit will build on the many conversations that have occurred on this issue to focus on solutions and move to action. Event details:
- Where: West Virginia University at Parkersburg Multipurpose Room
- When: September 13, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend, even if you were unable to join the first community conversation exploring the crisis. Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be available so people can come directly from work, and there will also be a children’s corner with materials to keep youngsters busy.
This summit is sponsored by What’s Next MOV, WVUP, Community Recovery Center, Your Voice MOV, WTAP, WOUB Public Radio, IHeart Media, and is funded by the Sisters Health Foundation.
